We launched in 2015 with a $1M gift from the American Health Care Association, which represents 14,000 post-acute and long-term care providers across the country.
AHCA leaders wanted to catalyze interventional research that would improve care for older adults and selected Brown because of the expertise of Center for Gerontology & Healthcare Research faculty. Gerontology researchers have more than 40 years of experience with observational and epidemiological studies related to aging and health services research. This includes examining patterns and disparities in care delivery.
Q&I teams focus on conducting and evaluating interventional research. Our goal is to improve care for older adults, especially those in nursing homes and assisted living communities, by partnering researchers with healthcare providers to use pragmatic methods that accelerate effectiveness testing and the translation of findings into practice.
