Center for Long-Term Care Quality & Innovation

Our Work

Our Work

We aim to make a real difference in care for older adults.

We engage partners to conduct and fund studies that establish the evidence for interventions by propelling them along the research continuum, from pilot studies to effectiveness and dissemination trials.

In the research we conduct, healthcare partners are active collaborators who help us to remain closely attuned to the real-world conditions and constraints that influence intervention design and evaluation. They help us to design and conduct pragmatic research that accelerates the testing of interventions and translation of findings into practice.

In our training and infrastructure grants, the IMPACT Collaboratory and LeaRRn, we provide funding, education, and other resources to expand national capacity for pragmatic research. One notable resource is our Long-Term Care Data Cooperative, which links nursing home EMR and Medicare claims data for use by researchers across the US who are conducting nursing home effectiveness studies.

The common themes among the projects we conduct are partnership, innovation, and the pragmatism of the methods we use and continually refine.

What sets us apart is our expertise, relationships, and national big data.

Relationships

We partner with healthcare providers and entrepreneurs across the care continuum and the country on research that accelerates the translation of evidence-based interventions into practice. We have unparalleled national nursing home networks to inform our understanding of needs and engage in studies.

Big data

Big data enable us to efficiently target and evaluate nursing home interventions. Our Long-Term Care Data Cooperative is also a resource for researchers elsewhere who are conducting effectiveness studies.
