Community Champions to increase vaccine acceptance among nursing center staff

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, nursing center staff have been providing care to vulnerable older adults. Knowing how important staff vaccination coverage levels are to protect nursing center residents, Q&I researchers led several efforts to understand staff vaccine hesitancy and strategies to increase vaccine coverage.

Q&I and Hebrew SeniorLife co-lead the IMPACT Collaboratory, a training and infrastructure initiative to fund and support innovative studies for people living with dementia and their caregivers. One IMPACT study looked at COVID-19 vaccination among nursing center staff.

To support long-term care staff with information for their vaccination decision, we created social media videos highlighting staff who moved from being initially uncertain about receiving the COVID-19 vaccine to accepting the vaccine. These staff members, referred to as Community Champions, encouraged their peers to accept the vaccine. The social media campaign is intended to help increase vaccine acceptance with long-term care staff. Please like and share the Community Champions video.

This study is one of numerous administrative supplements to the IMPACT Collaboratory.
